Cwmgors Colliery.
The Cwmgors slant mine was opened in the 1880's by Joseph Thomas, a local shopkeeper.
From the Inspector of Mines list 1896, it was the owned by the Cwmgorse Colliery Co. Ltd. employing a total of 16 men, producing Anthracite from the Red Vein.
Later the company took the name New Cwmgorse Colliery Co., Ltd., and by 1908 they were employing 264 men.
A new Spate transporting system was installed in 1910.
In 1918 the workforce totalled 324.
Later it came under the ownership of the Amalgamated Anthracite Collieries Ltd., and in 1945 the were 367 men employed.
It was closed by the National Coal Board in 1964.
