Lower Deep Pit, Blaina
Opened in 1860 by Lancaster's Steam Coal Collieries Ltd.
From the Inspector of Mines list 1896, it was owned by John Lancaster and Co. Producing coal from the Old Coal seam with a workforce of 558 men.
In 1908 the Griffin Nos.1, 2 and 3, Henwain and Lower Deep Pits together employed 3,344 men.
By 1918 the workforce numbered 1,417.
In 1922 it was replaced by Beynon's Colliery.
Beynon's Colliery closed down in 1975.
