Quarry Level, Near Pontypool, 2005.

Situated about two miles west of Pontypool in the Glyn valley this level was opened around 1912 by the Blaendare Co. Ltd.
It worked the Tillery house coal seam and it was also known as the Wern Tillery colliery.

In 1918 there were 103 men employed, including 20 surface workers.

From a list 1923, there were 138 men employed producing manufacturing coal from the Tillery seam.

It was the scene of rioting during a lockout in the 1926 general strike, when during a police baton charge several men were arrested and imprisoned for some months. Among them was Arthur Jenkins, a miner's agent and father of the late Lord Jenkins of Hillhead.

By 1938 the workforce numbered only 36 and it closed in the early 1940's.
