Brynmally Colliery, Moss, Nr. Wrexham

Probably sunk in the late 1830's or early 1840's it was purchased by Thomas Clayton and Co. in 1849. It also went by the name of Pwll y Pendwll.

An explosion occurred here on the 13th of March 1889 killing 20 men and boys. The cause was blamed on a fall bringing down an outburst of firedamp, which was ignited by a naked flame.

From the Inspector of Mines list 1896, there were 255 men employed.

By 1908 it was in the hands of the New Brynmally Colliery Co., employing 292.

In 1918 the workforce at Brynmally pits Nos. 1 and 3 totalled 482.

From a list 1923 there were 415 men employed, producing House Coal, Steam Coal and Fireclay from the Powell, Queen, Drowsail, Smith and Four Feet seams.
