A Welsh Coal Mines web page
Joy Coleman the mother of Richard Allan Lloyd, kindly sent me his
poem.
Richard wrote the poem when he was 12 years of age.
Later when Richard was aged 17 he joined the Army.
He sadly lost his life on the 6th of December 1999 while serving in
Bosnia.
His name has been place on the local war memorial statue, also a shop in Aberfan
has been named after him.
The Pit....
The wheels have stopped,
The pits have gone.
No more you hear the miners songs,
Our village is quiet,
Nothing is the same.
I want to know who's to blame?
Everyone's faces are sad,
With no money to spend,
I wonder sometimes where will it end.
