MINEWORKERS.
Forgotten you will never be
Ever in our memory
Ruthless the work you had to do
Never can forget those scars of blue.
High in esteem we hold you to be
Imprinted in time in history.
Laugh you still did with danger around
Loved you are still in great abound
Mankind was not born to become pit slaves
Imprisoned in tunnels resembling the grave
New sources of energy are all around us
Evermore, search until the best is found
Way up on the hill stood tips of black
Oh, how we hope they won't come back
Reclaimed lands are now forests of green
Kestrels, Falcons and Daffodils are now the scene
Even Trout now jump for joy in pure clear streams
Rhondda, without question, is put on the map
So to all former mineworkers, we take of our caps.
