Silkstone Monument
The pain the bitterness and tears will still not go away
and I stand, for I cannot kneel to pray.
Slow I walk by I dare not stop for I stand and cry it's bitterness, that makes me weep
when I see these children lying here in death's deep sleep.
The story they cannot tell for them life, on earth was a total hell.
They were not old enough to have developed souls,
taken from their mother’s womb to work in the pits to draw the coals
and now it is to late for God the Church, Mankind to wipe the slate
